KFC
KFC and basketball share a natural connection through buckets. To integrate the brand into Canada's fastest-growing sport, we turned KFC's iconic bucket into a "regulation-size" bucket, redesigning it to the exact specs of an official NBA hoop to create the KFCourt - the world's first outdoor winterized basketball court.
We brought hoopers and chicken lovers together through their shared passion for buckets, with a home court to call their own. In addition to sold-out court bookings and drop-ins by major basketball stars, including Raptor's Gary Trent Jr and NBA shooting coach Lethal Shooter, the KFCourt served as the set for a 30-second Super Bowl ad starring homegrown talent, the Scarborough Shooting Stars.
The "Buckets are Life" campaign earned KFC wide-spread awareness on social and traditional media outlets, a 1300% increase in buzz among NBA fans and the #1 QSR basketball brand rank, all without an official NBA sponsorship.
